Farleigh Road, Cliddesden

A planning application was submitted to Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council for permission to build 40 dwellings on land at Farleigh Road, Cliddesden.

Cycle Basingstoke objected to the planning application unless there were significant improvements to the local highways.

Cycle Basingstoke suggested that the following measures were necessary in the interest of safety before more houses could be built:

  • Pedestrian bridge (par 3.2.2) needs modifications to become a cycle bridge (higher parapets, droppedflush kerbs)
  • Reduced motor access to Woods lane, and other improvements
  • Suitably designed cycle lanes within the village (Farleigh road)
  • A cycle/footway to Cliddesden school
  • Speed restrictions on Farleigh road
  • Onstreet parking ban on Farleigh road
  • More cycle storage/parking

Planning permission was refused on 13 Sep 2017.
