Cufaude Lane - NCN 23

Cufaude Lane, Chineham - Temporary road closure - closes NCN 23

Yet again, BDBC closes an important cycle route but fails to make any provision for cyclists.

Starts: 26 October 2015 for 1 year

(Notwithstanding the above it is expected the closure will be from 26 October 2015 for 6 months only)

This closure is being handled by the developer, Croudace (web www.croudace.co.uk, telephone 01883 346464)

This also closes the Sustrans national cycle route, NCN 23, that goes from Reading via Basingstoke and Winchester, to Southampton. The published diversion is via the busy A33, which is unsuitable for for cyclists (except for the most confident). A much better route (from Bramley) is along the Vyne Road, through Sherborne St John, then Chineham Lane, into Basingstoke. This is not sign posted, and you will need to know the area or have sat nav. Otherwise, avoid Basingstoke!

Croudace gave assurances that an alternative cycle diversion would be signposted. This has not happened.

Croudace have said that they hope that access for cyclists and pedestrians will be restored earlier.
