Several options have been drawn up by the Council.

Their preferred scheme proposes installing traffic lights at all junction of the roundabout and closing the exit from Western Way and diverting it along a new road through the Camrose football ground. This is because there is no space for queuing between Western Way and Winchester road exits. In addition, the roundabout would be made smaller to add an extra traffic lane. The traffic signals would include crossings for pedestrians and cyclists, and the subways would also be kept.

Cycle Basingstoke will be checking on their request for proper cycle lanes leading to the roundabout from the various arms and if there is a crossing of Winchester road close to the roundabout. In the past cyclists successfully rejected the Tesco scheme because it was cycle unfriendly.
